Play Cowgirl — If That’s for You

Greetings, dear inklings! Today, you get the privilege of hearing a fresh, lively, lovely voice that’s not mine. ; ) Patricia Middleton has been my friend for the better part of two decades — which means I’ve benefited from her wit, her enthusiasm for life, and her creative inspiration for nearly 20 years. That’s pretty …

The Convergence of Rattlesnakes, Angels, and Corsets

You might not know this, my dear inklings — but I am involved in a grand scheme to change the world. I know. It’s hard to imagine that an artsy culture-geek such as I would be so idealistic as to want to alter even an iota of her environment. But, alas and alack, I’m too …

33 Questions for My Readers

I have questions for you, my dears. Pick a few and share your thoughts in the comments. Or answer all the questions, if you dare. Or ask some of your own. Who knows what might happen if you people start talking to each other as well as to me? ; )

Poetry Sucks, Beats, and Twists

As I’ve mentioned before, the time when I wasn’t noveling was one of the most depressing, despairing times I’ve ever gone through. The good news is that the experience led to one of the most uplifting, life-changing conclusions I’ve ever reached: If I want to feel content, if I want to be able to function …

And the Winners Are…

Greetings, my lovelies! A few weeks ago, I challenged you to tell me what kind of music demons listen to. If you click that link, you’ll see the whats and wherefores, but here’s a brief recap: In my novel Colors of Deception, the demonic villain has a predilection for the music of rock group INXS. …

Guest Blogger: Dante Mullins of Saltmarch

I stepped into the coffee shop and knew three things in an instant. There were humans everywhere — flesh in motion, sweat glistening, blood pulsing. There wasn’t a hint of colors. Holly — sweet, delectable, foolish creature that she is — calls them “Technicolors.” If only the communication between demon and auguren were as simple …

Remarkablogger and El Edwards Told Me To Write This

I walk through life as half asleep as the next person, I guess…but sometimes, synchronicity slaps me upside the noggin and says, “Yo! Human! Get your heart and mind out of this befuddled daze you’re in and look! I’ve got all sorts of cramazingness waiting for you — all you have to do is reach out and embrace it!”

You get hit in the noggin often enough with love like that, you’ll eventually start looking for it.

I’ve been looking for it. And this week, I found it. Without further ado or adon’t, here’s what synchronicity plopped into my lap this week.

I Dream, Therefore I Write — And Video!

Thanks to inspiration from El Edwards and Judy Dunn, I’ve wanted to try my “hand” (i.e. face and voice?) at video blogging about the connection between my dreams and my writing. So here’s the result. Happy viewing!

Is Virtue Your Trap, Too?

(Or: Confessing My Creative Recovery, Pt. 2) Awhile back, I promised to do a series of posts on Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way. This might or might not be the first post in that series. I don’t know yet. I’ve been keeping myself pretty well confined to Confessions of late, so after today, I might …

Front cover of a novel. Title and author's name in white font with serifs, all CAPS. Title: The Priestess Murders. Author: Courtney Cantrell. The image depicts a gnarled tree reaching from the bottom left corner up the left side and across the top half of the image. The tree is silhouetted against a star-spangled, dark blue night sky. In the background (lower third of image) are leafy, densely growing trees dimly lit by what might be moonlight (light source not shown). In the center of the image is a honeybee viewed from above. The bee glows a pale gold and is surrounded by a nimbus if pale gold light. The bee also exudes rays of pale gold light reaching up and down and left and right. A gash is torn in the bee's thorax, and red blood trickles from the wound. Novel published October 2025.
